Why? Because they’re pigs, that’s why.
It never fails, any time either of these events are held at a race track, both the track and the paddock are a disaster afterwards. The average number of engines that explode and leak oil & coolant all over the goddam track is about 5 per event.
That doesn’t count the engines that leak oil and coolant all over the goddam paddock, or the random parts and
bits of debris that fall off all over the goddam e
ntire facility.
What is a “Tier 1" track? Any one that holds a sanctioned event from a major racing organization.

So you're saying that a "Tier 1" race track does not have what it takes to clean up after a messy race? In that case they should give up on auto racing and host fashion shows instead.

A lot if times the race staff are volunteering. I don’t want to clean that shit up

No, I’m saying that the tracks shouldn’t rent their facility to organizations that are just going to trash the place
.
The aftermath of a Lemons or Vintage race is what you’d expect from a Kenny Chesney concert held on the Exxon Valdez.

My hoot tuk: all tracks, including the fancy ones, maybe even especially the fancy ones, are desperate for money. Better an oiled track then a housing development. Also, a surprising number of well to do folks race lemons and chump. These same folks bring their vintage Porsche’s, Alvas, Lotuses and Ferrari’s to tracks they like to drive and are comfortable on.

I’m giving you a star because of this gem of a turn of phrase.

Have you even attended a vintage event at a high end track? Laguna Seca, COTA, Indy, Lim e Rock? You do know about how much COTA charges per foot of oil spilled on the track or damage to barriers per foot, for example.
Ive seen more oil and trash at COTA or Watkins Glen after Pirelli World Challenge or the Lonestar Le Man’s than any vintage event anywhere in the 25 years I’ve been going to races as a crew chief or driver. Add in the 17 years prior to that and I wonder where you get your info regarding vintage events.
I've never been to a Lemons event so can't comment in that side.

I’m located on the East coast, have hit most of the places nearby. (Except Mid-OH and Nelson Ledges, because I think both are too dangerous).
The most recent was a trackday at PittRace, the weekend after the Vintage Grand Prix, and the inspiration for this rant. This year was worse than
the past few years, with
several oil spills on the track and around the paddock.
Have also ridden Summit Point after a Lemons event, similar outcome. Oil spills and scrapes on track, and oil spills in the paddock.

Sounds like Lemons is more a culprit. I've been going g to Lime Rock since about 1977, and my experience has been more debris and oil from IMSA and SCCA stuff. I don't think Lemons should even be considered racing vs a sideshow.

It really sounds like something the track crew should be taking care of after an event is over (shame on the people leaving the mess behind, but still). I haven’t put down much track time , so I’m not familiar with how it really works, but it’s easy to call out the safety and environmental concerns to the track mgmt.
